Creative and Production

No-Nation places music and arts programming and creative project development at the heart of its work and our expertise spans a wide spectrum of music from Jazz to World Music, contemporary to pop, as well as contemporary dance. Our creative work is characterised by its quality, collaborative approach, sense of invention and internationalism and has reached audiences of many thousands both in the UK and abroad.

Our team has substantial production experience and our worldwide contacts ensure we only work with the industry’s best technical expertise. We understand the importance of fostering a good team environment with clear lines of communication to present work of the highest standard.

Experience

Our team has extensive experience of developing successful large-scale artistic programmes for organisations including Brighton Dome and Festival, The Big Chill Festival, Warwick Arts Centre, Band on the Wall, Contemporary Music Network, Asian Music Circuit .

We have commissioned new work from some of today’s most respected artists including:

  • Les Ballets C de la B with Alain Platel
  • Asian Dub Foundation with the films Battle of Algiers and THX 1138
  • Wayne McGregor with Random Dance and Plaid
  • Hexstatic with Birdgang and Shlomo

Working across the public and commercial sectors No-Nation has successfully engaged headline festival acts including Leonard Cohen, Lou Reed, Basement Jaxx, David Byrne, Nick Cave and persuaded dance music veterans Orbital to reform for the Big Chill Festival in 2009.

 

We have also managed numerous touring projects and developed concepts such as the stereotype-defying African Soul Rebels series, which ran for several years and featured:

Bespoke curated events have ranged from one-off shows at venues such as the Royal Opera House; curated events at Ether Festival; to 20th anniversary events for labels such as Ninja Tune. We have brought events around the world from Prospect Park in Brooklyn to Sydney’s Opera House.

 

International Programme

No-Nation is an international broker with extensive contacts worldwide. We have a specific development programme in East Africa that includes development of projects such as Kenyan Country, Les Orchestre Mangelepa and Olith Ratego.

We have worked closely with Rift Valley Festival in Kenya since its inception in 2010 and played a key role in developing a broad and solid artistic programme for East Africa’s first outdoor music festival.

We also develop projects for international markets and partners which have included Celebrate Brooklyn, Sydney Festival, Ruhrtriennale, Haus Der Kulturen Der Welt (Berlin), Graphic Festival (Sydney).
